A striking set of six vintage South African Mid-Century Modern dining chairs by DS Vorster & Co,

c. 1960's. South Africa.

Constructed from solid Kiaat with suspended genuine leather seats and backrests.

The design features rigid timber frames, gently sculpted uprights and distinctive cut-out detailing for the leather supports.

🗜️ Workmanship:

Beautifully constructed using traditional exposed joinery, with shaped solid Kiaat members and carefully considered structural detailing throughout.

The suspended leather seats and backrests are individually secured directly to the timber frames using hand stitched leather loops, allowing the upholstery to form an integral part of the chairs’ construction rather than simply sitting over the frames.

The chair frames have been fully restored. The Kiaat frames have been stripped, cleaned, sanded and refinished, while the seats and backrests have been newly upholstered in genuine leather.
